Our Story

Hi, we're Dominik and Richard — and here's why we built CrabClear.

We're two people who got tired of finding our own home addresses, phone numbers, and family details on websites we never agreed to be on. So we built the tool we wanted to use ourselves — and opened it up for everyone else. This page is the honest version of why CrabClear exists, who's behind it, and what you can realistically expect when you sign up.

A note from the founders

"Privacy shouldn't be a luxury you have to chase across 1,500 broker websites. It should just be the default — and where it isn't, someone should do the chasing for you."

We didn't come to data privacy from a marketing playbook. Before CrabClear, we spent five years building meetergo, a scheduling platform now used by 26,000+ businesses — from Shop Apotheke to Mercedes-Benz. We learned what it really takes to handle sensitive personal data responsibly under GDPR, and we saw up close how casually most companies treat the information they collect.

Once you've seen the inside of the data industry, you can't unsee it. Names, addresses, phone numbers, salaries, family connections — bought, sold, repackaged, leaked. The bigger services in this space cover a few hundred brokers and call it a day. We wanted to actually go after the long tail: the ~1,500 brokers we've identified worldwide, plus everything that pops up after a breach.

We're not VC-backed. We don't have a growth team telling us to dial up the fear. We're a small European company that processes your data inside the EU, charges a fair price, and writes our own software. If something on our site sounds too good to be true, please tell us — we'd rather lose the sale than oversell.

How CrabClear got here

2018 – 2023

Five years inside the GDPR machine

We built meetergo and watched 26,000+ companies — from a one-person clinic to Mercedes-Benz — wrestle with what GDPR actually means in practice. That's where we learned what good data handling looks like, and how lazy a lot of the industry really is.

2024

The moment that pushed us over

Dominik searched his own name and found his home address on sites he'd never heard of. The 'big' removal services covered a fraction of the brokers we could see existed. We sat with that for a few weeks and decided to do something about it.

2025

CrabClear, in public

We launched with one clear promise: charge a fair price, do the unglamorous work, and tell people the truth about what's possible. Day-one coverage is a refund-safe first wave; the full broker list unlocks after the 30-day money-back window so we're not just collecting subscriptions and disappearing.

What's next

Keeping the list honest

Every month we add brokers, retire the ones that have shut down, and publish what we're working on. If you want input on what gets prioritized — what data sources you wish we covered — write to us. We read everything.

Three things we want you to know up front

The honest version

Most data-removal companies lead with scary statistics. We'd rather lead with the parts of the job that are genuinely hard, so you can decide whether what we offer is worth it to you.

Your data can't be fully erased — but it can be controlled

Honest expectation

Once your details have been online for years, copies live in places nobody has a full map of. What we can do is contact every broker we know about, force deletions where the law backs us up, and keep doing it on a schedule. What we can't do is promise your name will never appear anywhere again. Anyone who promises that is selling you fiction.

Brokers re-list you. That's why this is ongoing.

Why it's ongoing

Even after a successful deletion, brokers re-acquire your details from new leaks, public records, loyalty programs, and other brokers. That's not a CrabClear bug — it's how the industry works. Our job is to keep resubmitting, re-checking, and following up so the resurfaced records don't stick.

We process everything in the EU, under our own name

Where your data lives

Your data stays inside European data centers we control. We don't outsource the actual processing to US-based platforms. This matters less for the average shopper and more for journalists, executives, and anyone who'd prefer their personal info not pass through US legal jurisdiction. If that's not a concern for you, it shouldn't be a deciding factor — just something to know.

How we think about trust

We'd rather under-promise and let the results speak. You can read our terms in plain language, cancel anytime, and ask us anything. If something we said on this page doesn't match your experience inside the product, email dominik@crabclear.com — that's a real inbox and a real person.

Honest expectations

Before you sign up, please read this

We'd rather you understand what CrabClear is and isn't before you pay us anything. Here's the short version.

It's not instant

Brokers have 30–45 days to respond to a deletion request. We start outreach on day one with the refund-safe first wave, but you won't see most of the action in the first week. The dashboard updates as broker replies come in — quiet days are normal.

It's not 'one and done'

Removed records re-appear. New brokers spin up. Breaches dump fresh copies of your info into circulation. Effective privacy is a habit, not a one-time fix — which is why we run continuous cycles rather than charging once and walking away.

We won't scare you into buying

The data industry is bad enough without us inventing horror stories. If you've read this far and our offer still makes sense to you, great. If not, we'd genuinely rather you skip it than feel sold to.

You can talk to a human

Reply to any email we send and a founder will answer. If we mess something up, we'd like to hear it directly — and we'll fix it or refund you within the guarantee window.
