MiQ Opt Out Guide: Browser, Mobile, and Privacy Requests

Use the current MiQ advertising choice, cover each browser and mobile device, limit partner-supplied data, and submit verified privacy requests.

To complete a MiQ opt out for interest-based advertising, use the official privacy notice's current advertising-choice route in every browser and device you use. MiQ says the choice stops interest-based advertising from MiQ or its agents, not all advertising. If you want to restrict MiQ's use of data received from third-party partners, use MiQ's email or online privacy form as a separate step.

MiQ's advertising preference does not remove public records. Use a free exposure scan for visible listings, and organize the wider cleanup with the opt-out guide hub.

How to opt out of MiQ

Start in a normal browser profile that can store advertising-choice cookies. The official privacy notice directs users to the DAA route for MiQ's interest-based advertising choice. Industry choice pages can depend on cookies and browser configuration, so read the result for MiQ specifically and retain a dated record of the browser used.

  1. Open MiQ's current U.S. privacy and compliance notice and find Interest-Based Advertising.
  2. Follow the linked advertising-choice route in the browser profile you want to cover.
  3. Select or verify the MiQ choice and save the visible result and date.
  4. Repeat for every browser, device, and user profile you use.
  5. Use device advertising settings on mobile and review location permissions separately.

What the MiQ advertising choice changes

MiQ says opting out of interest-based advertising does not opt you out of all advertising. It limits interest-based advertising from MiQ or its agents and representatives for the covered choice. Ads can remain, and another advertising platform can still use its own identifier or consent signal. Check provider status rather than using ad volume as the success test.

MiQ also warns that it may still receive data from third-party partners if you only opt out of MiQ while consenting to other collection. Its notice provides a privacy email and online form for restricting MiQ's use of this third-party data. Treat that as a separate request and keep its confirmation separate from the browser choice.

Cover mobile, location, and multiple devices

For mobile apps, use the advertising and privacy choices built into the current operating system. Menu names can change, so consult the instructions for your phone's exact version. MiQ also recommends controlling location collection through device-level location preferences or individual app permissions. Advertising and location controls solve different problems and should both be reviewed.

MiQ describes cross-device mapping, which can associate devices that appear to belong to the same user or household. Its policy says opting out on one device or browser does not opt out other devices or browsers. List each phone, tablet, computer, browser profile, television, and shared user account before you begin.

Use MiQ's formal privacy request

Depending on your relationship with MiQ and where you live, the official notice describes rights that can include access, deletion, correction, and opt-outs from sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. MiQ provides an email address and online form. For access, deletion, and correction, it says it collects information needed to verify identity and residence in a qualifying state.

Use the official route, provide only the requested fields, and complete any verification message. If MiQ denies a rights request, the notice describes an appeal path for people who have that right. Keep the original submission, verification, response, and appeal dates so the record shows which stage is pending.

Verify choices and monitor resets

Confirm MiQ on the choice page

Return in the same browser profile and verify MiQ's displayed choice. A general confirmation from an industry page is useful only if it includes MiQ in the covered result. Save a screenshot without exposing unrelated browsing data or submitting personal information.

Repeat after cookies or identifiers change

MiQ says deleting cookies, changing computers, switching devices or browsers, or using multiple user profiles can require the operation again. Recheck after scheduled cookie cleanup, a browser reinstall, profile migration, device replacement, or advertising-ID reset. Log the event that triggered the new check.

Track related providers separately

Continue with The Trade Desk opt-out guide, the OpenX guide, and the TripleLift guide. Each row should identify the company, browser or device, status, and next review date.

Create a privacy log with one row for each browser, device, user profile, and formal request. Record the MiQ choice status, date, relevant environment, and next review trigger. Use a separate row for a request that restricts partner-supplied data because it has a different scope and confirmation path. Store any request references securely and avoid copying full identifiers into an unprotected note.

When troubleshooting, check the exact browser or device before repeating the whole process. Revisit the industry choice page and confirm that MiQ appears with the intended status. Then review cookie cleanup, profile changes, device replacement, advertising-ID resets, and app-level permissions. If the provider status is correct, another advertising company or another environment can explain the remaining ad.

Review location controls independently from advertising controls. A device can retain app location permission even after an interest-based advertising choice, and disabling location for one app does not necessarily change the browser cookie. A layered checklist makes each signal visible and reduces the chance that one successful setting is mistaken for complete coverage across unrelated data flows.

MiQ opt-out FAQ

Does MiQ opt-out stop all advertising?

No. MiQ says the choice stops interest-based advertising from MiQ or its agents for the covered environment. Other ads can remain.

Do I need to repeat the choice on every device?

Yes. MiQ explicitly says one browser or device opt-out does not cover other browsers and devices. Include separate user profiles too.

Can MiQ still receive partner data after opt-out?

MiQ says it may still receive data from third-party partners when you consent elsewhere. Use MiQ's privacy email or online form to restrict its use of that data.

Can clearing cookies undo the MiQ choice?

Yes. MiQ warns that cookie deletion can require the browser operation again. Revisit the choice page after cleanup.

Will a browser choice delete all MiQ data?

No. Use the formal privacy route for access, deletion, correction, or other rights available in your location, and complete any required verification.
