DuckDuckGo vs Privacy Bee is mainly a choice between a privacy bundle with device-based removal and a dedicated managed removal service. DuckDuckGo suits a US individual who wants local matching plus a VPN and other subscription features. Privacy Bee suits someone seeking broader provider-listed coverage, with analyst and custom-site work on higher tiers.

This comparison uses official pricing, help, workflow and terms pages checked October 1, 2026. We inspected public pages, not paid accounts or completed removals. Published coverage figures describe different source categories and should not be read as a measured success-rate comparison.

Quick comparison: what are you buying?

DuckDuckGo Personal Information Removal is included in its US subscription. Setup and matching information stay on the device, which also initiates removal requests. Privacy Bee provides a managed service with different automation, analyst and escalation arrangements across Essentials, Pro and Signature.

The best choice depends on your actual exposures and the work you want delegated. A larger inventory can be useful, but it does not guarantee that a particular record is removable. A smaller inventory can still address your immediate problem if the relevant sites are included and the process succeeds.

How much will you actually pay?

DuckDuckGo Plus and Pro

The official cost page lists US Plus at $9.99 monthly or $99.99 annually.

Pro is $19.99 monthly or $199.99 annually. Both include Personal Information Removal; Pro's listed upgrades concern AI access and usage allowances, not a verified expansion of removal coverage.

Do not buy Pro solely on the assumption that a higher price removes more records. Review the current feature difference and decide whether the additional bundle capabilities matter to you. Subscription availability in another country also does not establish that the removal feature is available there.

Privacy Bee Essentials, Pro and Signature

The current pricing page displays approximate monthly equivalents of $8, $16 and $67 when billed annually. Those rounded figures are not independently verified annual checkout totals. Confirm the amount charged, term and renewal details before paying, particularly for multiple people or a multi-year purchase.

Essentials is positioned around mostly automated people-search removal. Pro adds broader source categories and human-analyst work. Signature is positioned for high-risk or complex cases with dedicated US-based analysts and escalation options. Its higher price should be assessed against those needs, not assumed to be necessary for every household.

Compare coverage by the actual source types

DuckDuckGo's supported-site documentation contained 49 named entries when checked. The provider explains that support changes if sites disappear, make scanning unreliable or stop supporting effective removal workflows. The list is a current operational scope, not a lifetime promise.

Privacy Bee's October 1 pricing table lists 518 Essentials sources, split into 363 people-search sites and 155 affiliates. Pro and Signature list 1,144 sources across broader categories. Their separate custom-site capability names 185,267 supported sites; it should not be added to the broker figure or described as confirmed personal records removed.

Before choosing, identify the sites where your information is actually exposed. Ask whether each is covered by the plan you intend to buy, and what happens when a request fails. A provider's largest headline count does not answer those plan-specific questions.

The DuckDuckGo removal review gives more setup context, while our Privacy Bee review covers the dedicated service. This page focuses on the choice between them rather than replacing those individual product guides.

Local processing versus managed follow-through

Where the matching work happens

DuckDuckGo's setup documentation describes one-device operation for the individual subscriber. On iOS, Background App Refresh needs to be enabled. The browser window does not have to stay open for background scans, according to its separate process guidance.

Local matching is a real privacy strength. It does not mean every interaction stays on the device: confirmation-email handling and support correspondence are separate. We do not give an unqualified email-retention duration here because previously reviewed official help and terms language differed.

Privacy Bee's workflow page describes a managed process and ongoing monitoring. Its pricing page distinguishes automated work, Pro's Global Response Team and Signature's dedicated analysts. Monthly report emails can make progress easier to review without treating every request as an individual manual task.

The tradeoff is how much personal information and authority you want to provide for someone else to act. Read the requested profile fields and authorization terms. Neither local automation nor managed analysts eliminate the possibility that a broker refuses, cannot match you or retains information under an exception.

Which option fits your situation?

Choose DuckDuckGo when its supported list addresses your main exposure, you are eligible for US removal and you value the wider bundle. Its on-device design is particularly relevant if minimizing a centrally stored matching profile is a priority. Budget for separate subscriptions if more than one person needs removal.

Choose Privacy Bee when the broader listed categories or custom-site work address a concrete problem you have. Pro or Signature may be relevant when you want analyst follow-through. Ask about the exact exposure before subscribing, especially for a blog, forum, real-estate photo or urgent high-risk situation.

  • List your most concerning exposed URLs before comparing plans.
  • Check whether those sources are included in the selected tier.
  • Confirm the total charge and number of people protected.
  • Ask how failed, retained or unmatched records are reported.
  • Review authorization, renewal and cancellation terms before purchase.

CrabClear is another removal-focused option with monthly removal cycles and EU-based processing. It is not a substitute for DuckDuckGo's VPN bundle or Privacy Bee Signature's dedicated crisis-oriented service. Compare the relevant approach through our service comparison hub, then check current CrabClear plans if that narrower product fit suits your needs.

Timing, cancellation and realistic outcomes

DuckDuckGo's removal-process guidance says timing varies by site, from twenty-four hours to as much as six weeks, and some requests may fail. Those are provider descriptions, not results from a test we conducted. Regular rescans address the possibility that new data appears later.

Privacy Bee's terms state that it does not guarantee outcomes from third parties. The thirty-day first-payment refund applies to consumer Essentials and Pro plans. Signature and licenses purchased or provided through a business, employer, reseller or partner are excluded from that guarantee.

Keep cancellation separate from completed removals and from refund eligibility. Stopping a subscription ends future service according to its terms; it does not prevent all future collection elsewhere. Save reports and unresolved cases before ending a service so you know what may still require attention.

The privacy bundle versus removal service guide explains how to compare bundled features with a dedicated service before choosing a plan.

Frequently asked questions

Does DuckDuckGo Pro remove more sites than Plus?

The checked cost page includes removal in both plans and describes Pro upgrades in AI capabilities. We found no verified expanded removal entitlement from choosing Pro. Decide on the extra bundle features rather than assuming a higher plan means a larger removal inventory.

Is Privacy Bee's source count directly comparable?

No. Essentials includes people-search sites and affiliates, while Pro and Signature include broader source categories. The separate custom-site capability has another definition. DuckDuckGo lists individual supported sites, so the numbers do not establish a normalized coverage or success-rate ranking.

Can either service remove government records or every search result?

Do not assume so. Both providers describe limits, and a search result can point to a source outside the removal workflow. Removing a broker record also does not instantly refresh every search cache. Ask about the specific source and the action the service can actually request.

Which is better for a family?

DuckDuckGo says each individual needs their own subscription. Privacy Bee advertises multi-person discounts, but the exact total and plan scope need a checkout check. Compare household cost, matching profiles and service features together instead of multiplying a rounded monthly headline.

Is there a proven faster winner?

This article does not establish one. Public workflow descriptions and different plan priorities are not controlled performance measurements. Choose based on verified scope, operating model and support needs, then evaluate the reports and outcomes for your actual records.
