Epsilon Opt Out Guide: Stop Marketing Data Use in 2026

Use Epsilon's Consumer Request Form to choose opt-out of sale or deletion, complete verification, and distinguish database suppression from email advertising choices.

To opt out of Epsilon in 2026, open its Consumer Request Form and choose Do not sell my personal information/Opt-out if you want marketing-database suppression, or Delete my personal information if you want a verifiable deletion request. Epsilon says an opt-out marks the record Do Not Share so the preference can persist, while deletion removes personal information after identity verification. Its separate Digital Media Solutions email form applies only to hashed-email audience matching and requires an emailed verification link within 30 days. Choose the route that matches your goal and save every confirmation.

Use a free exposure scan for a wider inventory, then continue through the opt-out guide hub while keeping Epsilon's household, postal, email, and device choices separate.

Source basis: Epsilon's official consumer information and preference center and its hashed-email advertising opt-out were checked July 30, 2026. The sources distinguish sale opt-out, deletion, postal marketing, and audience-matched advertising rather than presenting one universal switch.

Choose opt-out, deletion, or channel controls

Epsilon explains that its direct-marketing opt-out does not delete the matching information. Instead, it marks the record Do Not Share so Epsilon can recognize and honor the preference if the data is submitted again. This is suppression, and retaining limited matching data is part of enforcing it. Choose this route when the practical goal is to stop Epsilon from supplying your personal information as a contact for client marketing programs.

Epsilon separately says a verifiable deletion request removes personal information and stops retaining or collecting it for that consumer. Choose deletion when that broader outcome matches your rights and goals. Deletion and suppression have different mechanics, so do not describe one as the other. The DMS email form is narrower again: it stops processing a hashed email for audience-matched advertising after the confirmation link is clicked.

Prepare household and channel identifiers

Epsilon describes household purchase, demographic, interest, and self-reported marketing information. Prepare your full name, current address, relevant prior address, and the email address used for a channel-specific request. Read what a data broker is to understand why household marketing suppression, a cookie choice, and removal from another company's list require separate actions.

Record the marketing channel that prompted the request. Postal mail may have been planned months before an opt-out takes effect. A hashed-email advertising choice does not cover cookie IDs, and a cookie choice may apply to one browser or device. Accurate scope makes follow-up possible.

Do not send financial account numbers, passwords, or government ID through an unverified route. Epsilon's consumer guide warns against disclosing such information to access a web page or download. Reach the request form from the provider's consumer information page, confirm the destination, and keep the information supplied proportional to matching and verification.

How to opt out of Epsilon step by step

  1. Open legal.epsilon.com/us/consumer-information and follow the Consumer Request Form link from the Consumer Preference Center.
  2. Choose Do not sell my personal information/Opt-out for marketing-database suppression, or Delete my personal information for deletion.
  3. Complete the live form with accurate household and contact information that allows Epsilon to locate your record.
  4. Complete any identity verification delivered by the official process, then save the confirmation and request type.
  5. If hashed-email audience matching is also a concern, submit the separate DMS email form and click the emailed verification link within 30 days.
  6. Monitor the specific channel and follow up through Epsilon's Consumer Preference Center or privacy contact if the requested effect is not reflected.

The separate hashed-email opt-out

Epsilon's Digital Media Solutions may process a hashed version of an email address for audience-matched advertising. The dedicated form accepts the email, hashes it before processing, discards the plaintext address, and sends an automated verification message. The verification link must be clicked within 30 days. Once the verified request is processed, Epsilon says it will no longer use that hashed email for DMS audience-matched advertising.

This does not automatically control other pseudonymous identifiers such as cookie IDs. Review the provider's privacy choices for each browser or device involved. Clearing cookies can also remove some device-based preference signals, so keep a note of which browser and device were covered. A hashed-email opt-out is valuable for its stated purpose but should not be reported as deletion of every Epsilon record.

Processing time and lingering marketing

Epsilon says marketing opt-outs can take several weeks or months to reduce offers because advertisers plan campaigns in advance and may already have received a mailing file. That does not make an opt-out ineffective; it means an already planned campaign can arrive after the preference is recorded. Track new uses separately from mail that was probably prepared before submission. The checked source does not promise one universal completion deadline for every request type.

Use the broader broker removal workflow and add the request to your data broker opt-out list with its exact scope, verification date, and affected channel.

Limits and reappearance risk

An Epsilon request applies to Epsilon's databases and services, not every marketer or data company. Marketing already shared with a client, data independently held by another company, or a new address and email can require separate action. Suppression is designed to recognize a returning match, but materially different identifiers still justify a later check. Ask companies you deal with directly not to share information when that choice is available.

Compare the Data Axle opt-out guide for another marketing-data workflow with different timing and scope. If ongoing manual work is difficult, review the data removal service comparison and verify whether the service handles marketing databases as well as public people-search pages.

Epsilon opt-out FAQ

Does Epsilon delete data when I opt out?

Not for the marketing suppression option. Epsilon says it marks the record Do Not Share. Use the separate Delete my personal information choice for a verifiable deletion request.

How long does Epsilon opt-out take?

Epsilon says marketing effects can take several weeks or months because campaigns are planned in advance. The DMS email verification link must be clicked within 30 days.

Does the Epsilon email form cover cookies?

No. The dedicated form covers hashed-email audience matching. Epsilon notes that cookie IDs and other pseudonymous identifiers have separate controls.

Will Epsilon opt-out stop all marketing?

No. It affects Epsilon's relevant data and services. Other companies and campaigns prepared before the request can still produce marketing.
