Malwarebytes Personal Data Remover is the lower-cost choice here for a US adult who wants recurring broker removal: its standalone offer is $99.99 a year. Kanary Core costs $250 a year, while Advanced starts at $500. Kanary's stronger reason to consider the higher price is its configurable exposure-management scope, especially for targeted individuals.

Choose by the records and support you need, not by a headline site count. Malwarebytes combines automatic and guided broker requests. Kanary separates Core's higher-traffic sources from Advanced's broader source types and escalation options. Advanced configurations can cost extra.

Five checks before you choose

  • Check whether your priority sources fall within the selected plan.
  • Compare annual prices with annual prices, including any configuration costs.
  • Confirm country eligibility and household entitlement.
  • Ask which verification tasks still require your input.
  • Read the order’s renewal, refund and cancellation terms.

What is this comparison based on?

We checked official product, pricing and support pages on September 27, 2026. Public screenshots document the offers we could see. We did not purchase either service, submit personal data, run a paid scan or measure removal success.

The comparison concerns Malwarebytes Personal Data Remover and Kanary's current Core and Advanced plans. It does not assume that every Malwarebytes antivirus subscription includes removal. For individual product detail, see the Malwarebytes review and Kanary review.

When does Malwarebytes make more sense?

Malwarebytes is a reasonable fit when the main problem is recurring exposure in supported broker databases and the standalone budget matters. Its current product page advertises scans across 100+ broker databases, automatic and guided removals, progress reports and confirmations.

At the checked base prices, its annual standalone cost is $150.01 below Kanary Core and $400.01 below Advanced.

That arithmetic compares prices, not equivalent services.

A lower-cost plan can still be the wrong fit if the source or support you need falls outside its scope.

The current Ultimate offer also includes security products.

The page displayed $119.99 a year next to a struck-through $239.99 for a one-adult, one-device offer.

Those displayed figures do not establish the renewal price of your order or entitlement under an existing subscription.

Check the exact bundle before buying removal twice. If you already use Malwarebytes, account entitlement is more useful than assuming all security products include Personal Data Remover. The bundle-versus-removal guide explains that category distinction.

When is Kanary worth considering?

Kanary positions its service around an individual's threat model. Core concentrates on higher-traffic sources; Advanced adds broader source types, custom work and escalation. That can be relevant when exposure involves more than conventional people-search profiles.

Its current pricing page lists Core at $250 annually and Advanced at $500, with half-price family additions. The 2026 product brief, updated in July, also lists $25 and $50 monthly base prices.

The pricing table marks several Advanced configurations as potentially costing extra. Confirm scan frequency, custom removals, incident research and support in the actual quote. Do not read “Advanced” as a promise that every listed configuration is included at $500.

For a creator, executive or other person facing targeted exposure, ask Kanary about the specific sources and mitigation work involved. Social-media and AI/LLM coverage language describes the service's scope; it does not promise deletion of all posts, copies or model knowledge.

Kanary also offers teams with at least five seats and free administrator accounts. That is useful for a business managing several people, but it is a different purchase from an individual household subscription.

Why broker counts cannot decide this comparison

Malwarebytes uses a 100+ database claim on its product card. Kanary describes coverage by source types and threat model rather than a simple fixed broker entitlement. Those measures have different definitions.

A provider's historical number of sites encountered is not the number included for every subscriber. Likewise, a catalog count does not tell you how many matching records exist for you or how many will reach a successful removal outcome.

Ask each service whether it handles your highest-priority sources, what action it takes and how it verifies outcomes. Removal from one listing can matter more than a large theoretical catalog if that listing contains the address or contact information causing concern.

Our comparison hub keeps other head-to-head decisions separate. The data-removal service comparison provides a broader starting point if neither product's scope fits.

What work remains for the customer?

Malwarebytes' removal-action help says some brokers do not allow third-party removal. Those cases require the consumer to act using the service's guidance. An automatic-removal product can therefore still have tasks in its dashboard.

Kanary describes managed scans, requests and help with verification. That does not eliminate all identity checks or give the service control over a third-party site's decision. Confirm how a request needing your approval is surfaced and what happens if you do not respond.

For either service, keep matching details accurate and review action-required notices. An old address or name variation may need to be included to locate a profile. Providing more data indiscriminately is not a substitute for asking which fields support the match.

How fast do scans and removals happen?

Malwarebytes' scan documentation says paid scans run every two months. It also describes broker removal as potentially taking up to 45 days. That is provider guidance, not a result we measured or a universal deadline.

Kanary's current pricing table shows monthly Core scans, with weekly and daily Advanced configurations. A faster scan can find a change sooner, but it does not make an uncooperative source complete deletion faster. Check any extra configuration cost before comparing frequencies.

Records can reappear because of new source data or identifier changes. Ongoing monitoring addresses that possibility; it does not promise that personal information will never return. Distinguish “request sent,” “in progress,” “removed” and “reappeared” when reviewing reports.

Geography, refunds and cancellation

The checked Malwarebytes product notice limits Personal Data Remover to US residents. Kanary's product brief likewise restricts Core to US

residents, while Advanced supports some people outside the US Country coverage still needs confirmation.

Malwarebytes' annual offer and some monthly billing/refund wording are not fully aligned across its public pages. Its subscription help describes disabling auto-renewal. Do not assume the general antivirus money-back policy applies to removal; check the terms attached to your order.

That help page also says active scanning stops after cancellation, while already-submitted broker requests can continue. A changed dashboard status does not necessarily reverse a request already sent to the broker.

Kanary's product brief publishes a 30-day money-back promise. Confirm the current terms for your selected plan and configuration. Neither a refund policy nor a cancellation option establishes a measured removal-success rate.

Where does CrabClear fit?

CrabClear is another removal-focused option. Its current pricing page describes monthly removal cycles, EU-based processing and individual/family plans. Compare the actual supported sources and eligibility with your needs before making a choice.

CrabClear cannot erase every public record or control another site's response. It is not a replacement for account security, emergency support or every custom escalation service. Those limits matter when comparing it with a broader exposure-management plan.

Review CrabClear's current plans and pricing if recurring broker removal and the household options fit your situation. Keep euros and dollars separate when comparing prices; exchange rates, taxes and promotional terms can change.

Frequently asked questions

Is Malwarebytes cheaper than Kanary?

The checked annual standalone offer is $99.99, compared with $250 for Core and $500 base for Advanced. The services have different scope, and Advanced configurations may cost more.

Does either service promise complete internet removal?

No conclusion like that is supported by the checked sources. Third-party policies, legal retention and public records can limit deletion, and records can reappear.

Can Kanary Advanced help outside the US?

Its product brief says some international users are eligible, while some countries are unsupported. Ask about your country and target sources before subscribing.

Does antivirus automatically include broker removal?

Do not assume so. Malwarebytes markets Personal Data Remover separately and in specified bundles. Check the exact entitlement in your current account or offer.

Which should I choose for a targeted privacy threat?

Start with the source and assistance needed. Kanary Advanced's broader scope may be relevant, but confirm the configuration and price. Routine broker removal alone may not address every targeted exposure or immediate safety concern.
