Malwarebytes vs Privacy Bee: Data Removal Costs and Scope
Compare Malwarebytes and Privacy Bee on current prices, manual tasks, coverage definitions, and service tiers. Choose the scope your exposure needs.

Malwarebytes Personal Data Remover suits a US adult who wants broker removal with a familiar security account and can complete occasional guided tasks. Privacy Bee offers a tiered removal service: Essentials focuses on people-search exposure, while Pro and Signature add broader source handling and human help. The useful choice is the work and exposure covered by the actual plan, not the largest advertised site count.
We checked official pricing, product pages, support documentation, and public browser views on October 2, 2026. This is a document-based comparison. We did not buy either subscription, submit a personal scan, or measure removal success, so the verdict does not rank tested performance.

Malwarebytes vs Privacy Bee at a glance
The Malwarebytes product page displayed a standalone annual offer and a separate Ultimate bundle. The Privacy Bee pricing page displayed three removal tiers. Comparing the standalone offer with the tier you actually need prevents security extras or premium analyst services from being mistaken for basic removal coverage.
| Decision point | Malwarebytes Personal Data Remover | Privacy Bee |
|---|---|---|
| Current public price | $99.99/year, billed annually, for one adult | About $8/month Essentials, $16/month Pro, $67/month Signature when billed annually |
| Primary scope | People-search and data-broker profile removal | Essentials people-search scope; Pro/Signature broader sources and custom-site handling |
| Consumer effort | Automatic removals plus guided tasks for some sites | Mostly automated Essentials; more human management at higher tiers |
| Follow-up process | Official help describes scans every two months | Provider describes monitoring, reports, and tier-dependent remediation |
| Eligibility evidence | Product page says US residents | Confirm eligibility for your residence and exposure before purchase |
| Key purchase question | Does your existing bundle already include it? | Which tier covers the specific source you want addressed? |
The Privacy Bee figures are rounded monthly equivalents, not verified month-to-month purchase prices. Do not multiply them into exact annual contract totals. Check the order summary, taxes, renewal amount, household licenses, and cancellation terms before paying for either service.
What are you actually paying for?

Malwarebytes standalone versus Ultimate
The current standalone card lists $99.99 per year for one adult, with automatic and guided removals, monitoring, progress reports, and confirmations. The adjacent Ultimate card combines removal with other security and identity features.
Its displayed $119.99 offer beside $239.99 should not be interpreted here as a verified future renewal quote.
If you already subscribe to Malwarebytes, check your exact entitlement first. Paying for a second standalone license may not be necessary if your current bundle includes removal for the person you want covered. A device count, adult removal entitlement, and child identity-monitoring allowance are different plan dimensions.
Privacy Bee Essentials, Pro, and Signature
Privacy Bee positions Essentials as mostly automated people-search removal. Pro adds broader source coverage and analyst-assisted remediation. Signature is aimed at higher-risk situations with more direct, priority human support. The tier names matter because a feature promoted for Signature should not be assumed to come with Essentials.
Its household support page says a license covers the named person and their data. Multi-person discounts do not turn one license into automatic protection for an entire household. Verify the number of people and the final combined order price.
Billing and refund details need the actual order
Privacy Bee's public pricing FAQ describes a 30-day money-back guarantee for Essentials and Pro and excludes Signature. Read the current terms and the checkout language for your purchase, including who bought the license and when the guarantee starts. We did not test a cancellation or refund.
For both companies, save the order terms rather than relying on a rounded marketing price. Note whether the price is introductory, which features are included, and whether a renewal amount is stated. This is more useful than assuming that a monthly equivalent means you can pay one month at a time.
Why the coverage numbers are not directly comparable
The Malwarebytes offer card says scans cover 100+ data-broker databases. On the same browser-resolved landing page, a separate statistic says 125+ data brokers. We preserve that inconsistency instead of converting it into a single precise tested figure. Ask about a specific broker when its inclusion determines your purchase.
Privacy Bee's live browser table listed 518 Essentials sources, comprising people-search sites and affiliates. Its broader tiers listed 1,148 sources across several categories.
A separate Quick-Delete Playbook row listed 185,269 supported sites. Custom-site coverage was labeled unlimited for Pro and Signature and absent from Essentials. Neither label is a count of ordinary broker databases automatically covered by every tier.
These totals can change and differ from cached search snippets. More importantly, a source catalog, an affiliate count, a custom-site capability, and successful removals of your own records are different things. None of these numbers proves that one company will remove a larger fraction of your actual exposure.
Make a short list of the sites that matter to you, then ask which plan can handle them and what happens if the initial request fails. The service comparison hub explains the wider buying decision without requiring you to normalize unlike vendor counts.
How much work remains for the customer?
Malwarebytes' action-required documentation explains that some sites do not accept third-party requests. In those cases, the customer follows guided instructions and records the task status. Automation does not mean you will never need to verify ownership or submit something yourself.
Its scan documentation describes scans every two months. It says removal may take up to 45 days and explains that free and paid scan results can differ. Those are provider statements about the workflow, not a tested guarantee that every broker will comply within that time.
Privacy Bee's workflow page describes monitoring and ongoing remediation. The pricing table differentiates automation-led Essentials from analyst involvement in Pro and Signature. Even with more human help, consumers may still need to supply accurate matching details or authority for a request.
Choose based on the level of involvement you can sustain. If you are comfortable completing a few clear tasks, Malwarebytes' documented guided process can be a strength. If the exposure involves custom sites and coordination, ask Privacy Bee which tier and analyst service would handle the concrete case.
Who should choose each service?
When Malwarebytes is the better fit
Consider Malwarebytes when you are a US adult looking primarily for broker-profile removal, already use its account, or have a bundle that includes the feature. Its clear task statuses and documented consumer actions can help someone who wants to see what remains to be done.
Its limitation in this comparison is that ordinary removal and guided tasks should not be mistaken for a concierge response to every kind of online exposure. Read our Malwarebytes Personal Data Remover review for the individual product context before treating the bundle name as proof of a particular removal service.
When Privacy Bee is the better fit
Consider Privacy Bee when the tier distinctions match your needs: lower-cost people-search automation, broader source handling, or direct help for complicated exposures. The ability to choose a level of human support is a real strength when that support addresses the sources you actually face.
The tradeoff is price and scope complexity. Essentials does not inherit all Pro or Signature capabilities, and custom-site removal does not mean erasing every public record or unfavorable article. The Privacy Bee review provides more detail on that service's own positioning and limitations.
Geography, processing, and a removal-focused alternative
Malwarebytes' product page states that Personal Data Remover is currently available to US residents. A free exposure scan offered elsewhere is not proof that the paid removal subscription is available in your country. Verify eligibility before relying on a discount or opening a purchase flow.
Privacy Bee's current table describes non-US human analyst remediation for Pro and US employees working from Atlanta for Signature. Do not generalize the Signature description into a promise that every tier or every data operation stays in the United States. Ask about the tier's access and processing arrangements if location matters to you.
CrabClear's current pricing offers a removal-focused alternative with monthly cycles and EU-based processing. Its public annual individual offer is €79 against a regular €149, with separate monthly and family plans. These are displayed offers, not a guarantee of future promotional availability or successful removal from every source.
CrabClear is not a substitute for Malwarebytes antivirus or Privacy Bee's described crisis-oriented analyst services. Official records, independent publishers, and non-cooperative sites can remain outside what a removal request achieves. Our privacy-bundle versus removal-service guide and comparison topic hub help separate those purchasing goals.
Questions to settle before subscribing
- List the exact exposed sites and ask which plan handles each one.
- Confirm residence eligibility and the people included in the license.
- Check which tasks require your action and how you will be notified.
- Save the annual total, renewal terms, refund exclusions, and cancellation process.
- Ask what the service reports when a source refuses or legally retains information.
Which service removes information faster?
We did not measure that. Malwarebytes publishes a scan cadence and provider-described processing window; Privacy Bee markets tier-dependent priorities. Neither statement establishes comparative real-world completion time for your particular sites.
Is Privacy Bee Essentials the same as Pro?
No. The current table assigns different source scope and human-remediation features. Choose the tier against your exposure list. Do not use a high-tier custom-site claim as evidence that the lowest-price license includes it.
Does Malwarebytes removal include antivirus?
The standalone removal offer and Ultimate bundle are separate products on the checked page. Review the exact order and any existing subscription. A removal feature alone should not be assumed to provide all the security features advertised beside it.
Will either service erase government records?
Do not assume that. A removal subscription generally concerns records or displays that can be changed through the relevant source's process. Lawful public records and other retained information can remain, even if a people-search copy is removed.
Should I choose the largest source count?
Use the count as a question to investigate, not a performance ranking. Definitions differ and can include affiliates, source categories, or custom-site capabilities. Coverage of your specific exposure and the handling of failed requests matter more than a normalized total we cannot substantiate.
