To opt out of SheerID or request deletion, email privacy@sheerid.com or use the privacy telephone number, 1-833-317-3372, listed in its global privacy policy. Explain whether you mean verification information, a Remember Me account, marketing messages or advertising preferences.

These are different requests. If SheerID processed a verification for a merchant, that merchant may control the underlying record and need a separate request.

This SheerID opt out guide is based on the public policy and contact links checked September 19, 2026. The observed “Your Privacy Choices” links returned to the policy page; we did not find a separate request form through those links. No request, identity verification or completed deletion was tested.

Preparing an email normally takes only a few minutes when you know which interaction it concerns. That estimate excludes identity checks and response time. For other providers, the opt-out guide hub helps keep requests organized.

What kind of company is SheerID?

SheerID provides identity and eligibility verification for offers, including discounts tied to qualifying groups. Its privacy policy discusses information such as contact details, account credentials and eligibility information. The type of record matters: a one-time merchant verification and a reusable account are not necessarily governed by the same retention process.

This guide does not treat SheerID as a public people-search directory. A removal request is about its handling of personal information. You should not expect to find a public profile URL before you can ask a question about that processing.

The policy also separates data SheerID controls from information it processes for clients. In the latter case, the client is described as the controller. Naming the merchant and approximate verification date can help route your request without sending every document you originally used.

For broader context, how personal-data removal works explains why separate organizations can require separate follow-up. A commercial relationship or shared verification flow does not establish that one request deletes all parties’ records.

How do you request deletion or an opt-out?

1. Identify the interaction and the desired action

Write down whether you used a merchant offer, opened a Remember Me account, subscribed to marketing or interacted with SheerID’s website. Then decide whether you want access, correction, deletion, account closure or a sale/share preference.

Avoid an ambiguous message such as “cancel everything” when your real concern is a specific verification record. Explain the scope in ordinary language. If you want several actions, list them separately so the response can address each one.

2. Use the policy-listed privacy contact

Open the SheerID global privacy policy and confirm the current contact details. The inspected page exposes privacy@sheerid.com as a working mailto link. It also lists 1-833-317-3372 for privacy inquiries.

A useful initial email can say: “Please help me exercise a deletion request concerning my verification or account information. My interaction was with the following merchant on approximately this date. Please explain which records you control and whether another company must handle any part of the request.”

Include your own matching contact details as needed. This is suggested wording, not an official template. Do not send passwords, full payment information or an unsolicited copy of an identity document with the first message.

3. Distinguish privacy support from offer support

The policy identifies the telephone number as a privacy route. Problems qualifying for a discount or completing an offer verification may belong in the help center instead. A failed eligibility check is not the same as a data-deletion request.

If your goal is to stop a subscription or merchant purchase, contact that merchant about billing too. Deleting information at a verification provider should not be assumed to cancel another company’s contract or refund an order.

4. Respond to a verified matching request

SheerID says it may use details about recent interactions, account information, name, address, email, telephone or other identifiers to verify the request. An agent may need evidence of authority. The exact information required depends on the case.

Check the sender and the requested scope before replying. Ask for a secure route if sensitive documentation is necessary. Save any reference number, response date and explanation of records retained or referred to a merchant.

Does the 30-day statement cover every record?

No. The policy’s 30-day language applies to account data after account closure. It also describes deletion after two years of account inactivity. Those statements should not be extended to every verification record, request category or client-controlled dataset.

The same policy says other personal data can be retained for necessary purposes and compliance obligations. Ask whether a response concerns an account, a verification event, a request log or another category. The distinction prevents a common misunderstanding: a closed account does not by itself prove all related information has disappeared everywhere.

We have not verified a universal completion time for every SheerID privacy request. Keep the acknowledgment separate from the final response and ask for an estimated schedule if none is supplied. This guide summarizes the provider’s process, not your legal entitlement to a particular deadline.

How are marketing and cookie choices different?

SheerID offers a marketing email preference center and unsubscribe options. Those preferences can stop promotional communications while leaving service-related messages or necessary account processing in place. A database or verification deletion request should state that goal explicitly.

Cookie settings address tracking associated with the browser. They do not automatically identify and delete a merchant verification performed through another system. If you use multiple browsers or devices, review their preferences separately when relevant.

Our guide to reducing spam calls addresses a different problem and should not be read as proof that SheerID caused unwanted contact. Likewise, removing information from Google results concerns search visibility, not deletion inside a verification provider’s records.

What if the request is refused or information returns?

Ask the response to explain its scope, any retained categories and the reason for refusal. The policy describes possible appeal rights depending on residence. It also says some services may become limited or unavailable depending on the choices exercised. Read that explanation before assuming an account will work exactly as before.

A new verification, reopened account or later interaction may create new information. That is distinct from a completed old request being ignored. Keep a record of the original interaction and compare dates if you later see another entry or message.

If the merchant controls the information, ask for the appropriate privacy route and keep the merchant’s response separately. For broader privacy housekeeping, the privacy guide hub and data broker opt-out list cover other exposures. You can scan for supported public listings, but a public exposure scan cannot certify the contents of a private SheerID account or merchant verification record.

Before you finish, check these points:

  • Name the merchant or account involved in the request.
  • State account closure and data deletion separately if you want both.
  • Ask which party controls records processed for a merchant.
  • Save the response and its explanation of retained categories.

Frequently asked questions

Must I find a public SheerID profile before requesting deletion?

No public-profile requirement was established by the inspected policy. Describe your own interaction and use the privacy contact to ask how your record can be matched.

Can I use the Your Privacy Choices link as a form?

During our check, those links returned to the global privacy policy. The policy’s email and phone routes were explicit. This guide does not invent fields or a confirmation screen for a separate form.

Does closing Remember Me cancel a merchant subscription?

Do not assume that. Remember Me account management and a merchant’s purchase or subscription relationship are different matters. Confirm billing changes with the merchant directly.

Will deleting information stop me from obtaining discounts?

The policy says choices can limit certain services. The effect depends on the offer, account and information needed for verification. Ask about that consequence before making an irreversible account choice.

Is SheerID responsible for all merchant-held records?

The policy describes circumstances where SheerID acts as a processor for a client controller. Ask which party controls the records involved and direct any additional request accordingly.
