DuckDuckGo vs Aura data removal is chiefly a choice between individual privacy software and a broader identity-protection household plan. DuckDuckGo Plus offers United States personal-information removal for $99.99 a year with local matching on your device. Aura Individual is advertised at $12 a month billed annually, or $144 a year, and adds credit and identity features.

Neither published coverage count proves better removal results.

For one adult who values local operation and already wants DuckDuckGo's subscription features, Plus is the lower advertised annual entry price. For multiple adults who will use identity and credit protection, Aura's Couple or Family plan can be more relevant. Check the actual sites, eligibility and tasks required before deciding.

Sources were checked September 20, 2026. This is a public-document comparison, not a paid account trial or an effectiveness study. The figures describe different products and counting methods. The comparison topic hub provides other pairwise decisions without treating every service as interchangeable.

Compare total cost for your household

One adult: compare annual and monthly billing separately

DuckDuckGo's official cost page lists Plus at $9.99 monthly or $99.99 yearly.

Pro is $19.99 monthly or $199.99 yearly and adds AI capacity. The checked sources do not establish that buying Pro expands removal coverage.

Aura's pricing page lists Individual at $12 per month billed annually or $15 month to month. Multiplying the annual-equivalent figure by twelve gives $144.

Against DuckDuckGo Plus's $99.99 annual offer, that is a $44.01 annual difference before taxes or checkout adjustments.

Do not compare an annual-equivalent monthly figure with a cancel-anytime monthly price. The payment commitment differs even when the larger number is printed as a monthly amount. Confirm renewal, tax and the amount due at checkout; no purchase was made to verify a personalized offer.

Two or more adults: count subscriptions and useful benefits

Aura Couple advertises two adults at $22 per month billed annually, equivalent to $264 a year, or $29 monthly. Family advertises five adults at $32 per month billed annually, equivalent to $384 a year, or $50 monthly.

DuckDuckGo's setup documentation says removal is intended for the individual subscriber and each other person needs a separate subscription. At the current Plus annual price, two subscriptions total $199.98 and five total $499.95.

These are arithmetic examples, not household quotes or a claim of equal benefits.

Aura's child features are not interchangeable with adult removal coverage. Its help-page footnote limits child benefits to specified monitoring features. Do not read unlimited kids on the Family card as unlimited identical adult data-removal accounts.

Read trial and refund conditions before enrolling

Aura advertises a 14-day trial and a 60-day guarantee for annual plans. Its help-page terms qualify eligible purchase channels and explain that a trial can start the relevant guarantee clock. Do not assume every retailer, monthly plan or later renewal receives the same refund treatment.

We did not newly verify a universal DuckDuckGo refund promise. Compare the terms for your purchase channel rather than treating the absence of a headline trial in this article as proof that no remedy exists.

Match coverage to your actual exposure

DuckDuckGo's supported-site documentation contains 49 named entries in the section checked for this article. The provider explains that support may change when sites disappear or reliable scanning and removal become unavailable.

Aura's pricing cards advertise 425+ sources spanning data brokers, people-search services, junk mailers and Google Search results. Its removal help uses broader broker wording. We preserve the mixed pricing-card definition instead of presenting the headline as 425 distinct, equally supported broker databases.

Those two figures cannot establish a removal-success ratio. A directory, a broker database, a mailing list and a search result are different objects. A service can also submit a request without first confirming that the source has your record.

List the specific sites exposing your information and check the applicable workflow. Our data removal service comparison explains other buying criteria, while the Google personal-information removal guide distinguishes a search-result change from deleting an underlying record.

How much work will you need to do?

DuckDuckGo's getting-started guide describes setup in its browser using matching details stored locally. Removal is designed for one device and the individual subscriber. On iOS, Background App Refresh must be enabled for effective operation.

Its process help says scans and requests run in the background without the browser window remaining open. Keep the device and settings requirements in mind before assuming the service operates independently of your setup.

Aura's current removal help distinguishes automatic requests from additional work. A digital authorization can enable more requests. Some sites use a Chrome or Edge extension; others need a mobile-assisted action or a manual self-service step. Email verification can also be required.

The practical question is which tasks apply to your exposed sites. A long advertised list may include tasks you must finish. Before subscribing, check whether you can use the relevant browser, device and authorization workflow. If you will ignore manual tasks, those nominally available paths should not be treated as completed protection.

Privacy, eligibility and outcome limits

Local matching is a real DuckDuckGo strength. The provider says setup information stays on your device and requests originate there. Its privacy help separately describes confirmation-email handling and support processing. Local matching therefore does not mean no information ever reaches a broker or support provider.

We do not repeat an unqualified confirmation-email retention duration here: previously reviewed help and terms use different periods. That discrepancy deserves source-specific clarification rather than a single universal guarantee. Cancellation also ends ongoing assistance, so later reappearance remains possible.

DuckDuckGo removal is United States-only even though its wider subscription is available in other countries. Aura's advertised bundle contains United States credit and identity features, and full feature access depends on verification and eligibility. Confirm your own location and identity requirements; we did not perform an international checkout or establish all-data residency for either provider.

Neither can guarantee that every broker approves every request. DuckDuckGo describes processing from 24 hours to six weeks with possible failures. Aura says processing can take up to 45 days and the broker makes the final decision. These are provider-described ranges, not a head-to-head speed test.

Which should you choose?

Choose DuckDuckGo Plus when local matching, an individual subscription and its browser privacy bundle fit your needs. Pro should be justified by its additional AI features, not an unsupported assumption of broader removal. The DuckDuckGo removal review covers that product in more detail.

Choose Aura when you want credit monitoring, identity support and security features alongside removal, especially when a household plan fits. Its genuine strength is the broader package, though the workflow can still require authorization or manual action. The Aura data-removal review provides the product context; current figures in this dated comparison reflect today's official sources.

CrabClear is another option when removal is your primary buying goal. Its limitation in this comparison is straightforward: a removal-focused service is not a replacement for every identity, credit, insurance or device-security feature advertised in Aura's bundle. Nor should it be presented as equivalent to DuckDuckGo's local matching architecture.

Before paying, run a free privacy scan to establish a starting picture of supported public exposure. Then compare the sites you actually need addressed and the ongoing work each service expects. A scan is not a complete audit of private databases or a guarantee of future removal.

  • Confirm removal eligibility for each adult.
  • Compare the full annual payment or twelve monthly payments.
  • Check actual source names rather than only headline counts.
  • Review device, extension and authorization requirements.
  • Keep evidence of completed removals separately from submitted requests.

Frequently asked questions

Is DuckDuckGo's free browser enough for removal?

The free browser and search product are distinct from the paid subscription. The checked help includes Personal Information Removal with United States subscriptions. Do not assume installing the free browser activates the paid removal service.

Does DuckDuckGo Pro remove from more sites than Plus?

The current price and feature sources describe AI-related upgrades. They do not establish wider removal coverage for Pro. Choose the higher tier for benefits it actually documents.

Does Aura remove information from 425 brokers?

Its pricing cards use a mixed definition that includes broker and people-search sources, junk mailers and Google results. We do not normalize that into 425 distinct brokers or 425 successful removals for each customer.

Can one DuckDuckGo subscription cover my family?

Its removal setup guidance says each person needs a separate subscription. Aura sells Couple and Family plans with adult limits, but child monitoring and adult removal benefits should still be checked separately.

Which service removes information faster?

The public sources do not provide a comparable measured trial. Both describe variable broker processing and possible unsuccessful requests. Provider timing statements alone cannot establish a speed winner.
