To opt out of FordDirect or request deletion, start with its current privacy statement and follow the webform for your location and request type. The July 2026 notice lists 1-800-392-3673 as a telephone route. Dealer-held records and Ford Motor Company records require attention to the organization involved. This FordDirect opt out guide explains the visible entry points without treating every automotive record as one database.

We checked the current notice through a reader and opened linked request portals on October 27, 2026. FordDirect’s main page blocked our direct browser. Its Mine privacy center and the California section’s linked Ford-Lincoln OneTrust form loaded. We inspected choices without providing identity details or submitting a request; another state-specific link encountered a security challenge.

Identify which organization holds the information

FordDirect’s current privacy statement distinguishes its services from the privacy practices of dealerships, dealer associations and Ford Motor Company. This is the first decision to make. A vehicle inquiry can involve several organizations, and a request to one does not establish deletion by the others.

For information processed on a dealer’s behalf, the notice directs consumers to the dealer. If contacting FordDirect about that processing, identify the dealer so the request can be routed. An inquiry about a dealer’s customer file is different from a request concerning FordDirect’s own marketing or business-contact information.

For another example of dealer-controlled processing, read the DealerSocket guide. Its customer-instruction route illustrates why selecting the correct organization matters, but it is a separate service and request.

Use the current request entry points

Public source checked October 27, 2026. No personal information or request submitted.

The general choices section of FordDirect’s notice links its FordDirect Privacy Center. The visible first screen asks for a state. The notice also has separate California and other-state sections linking Ford privacy forms. Follow the link in the section that applies to you instead of selecting a location merely to make more options appear.

Selecting California in the Mine center displayed a routing notice directing listed-state residents to Ford’s privacy webform or the published phone number. The portal is therefore not a single universal submission path. Follow the route for your real location; do not press Submit on the initial state screen and assume a deletion request was filed.

The California-linked OneTrust form introduced itself as the Ford-Lincoln consumer privacy rights form. Its first choice was whether the request concerned the individual or someone represented by an authorized agent. Selecting the individual path revealed an active-account question.

This staged structure means later requirements depend on earlier answers; a single screenshot is not the entire process. The no-active-account path then showed state, name, address, city, ZIP, email, phone and Ford-relationship fields. We did not fill those identity fields.

  • Open the current FordDirect notice and find the section matching your request and location.
  • Follow the linked privacy portal, then confirm that the page identifies the expected organization.
  • Choose your actual state and whether you are acting for yourself or as an authorized agent.
  • Follow the appropriate account path and select the right you want to exercise.
  • Provide only the matching information the official flow requires, then complete any requested verification.
  • Save the request reference and the provider’s final response so you can compare the requested and completed actions.

The notice asks for a separate request for each CCPA right. For example, a deletion request and a sale/sharing choice should not be assumed to be interchangeable. If you are uncertain which portal covers FordDirect data, ask the published privacy contact before providing additional information.

Do not use a dealer sales inquiry form as a substitute privacy request. That can generate another sales lead while failing to reach the privacy team. The data broker removal guide explains how to keep the requested outcome and submission route aligned.

Separate deletion from advertising controls

FordDirect’s notice describes Global Privacy Control and explains that browser and device settings matter. A browser signal is useful for the processing it covers, but it is not a deletion receipt for a customer file. Keep identity-based requests separate from browser settings in your records.

If you want marketing communications stopped, use the applicable published preference or request route. If you want personal information deleted, request deletion explicitly. If a dealer continues contacting you, check whether it received your information independently and contact it directly. An opt-out directed to FordDirect does not prove that a prior recipient has changed its own records.

Resetting cookies, changing browsers or using another device can change the context in which a browser preference is recognized. Review the setting in the environment you actually use. Do not conclude that a database deletion failed merely because an advertisement still appears; advertising can be based on factors unrelated to the record in your request.

Automotive research is another separate relationship.

If the contact originated with J.D. Power, use the J.D. Power opt-out process, which distinguishes survey, car-website and sale/sharing requests.

Neither provider’s process is a universal vehicle-data eraser.

Understand verification and response timing

The current notice says FordDirect will endeavor to acknowledge CCPA requests within ten days and respond to verified, valid requests within 45 calendar days. These are published process statements, not an observed removal time from our inspection. Eligibility, verification and retention exceptions can affect the outcome.

The July 2026 notice uses 1-800-392-3673. Older indexed pages display a different number, which is why the date of the source matters. Its call-hour descriptions vary by section, so check the current contact instructions rather than relying on a universal schedule in a third-party guide.

For business-to-business requests, the notice publishes dprivacy@forddirect.com and says identity evidence may be requested. Begin with a concise description of your relationship and desired action.

Do not send a complete identity-document scan, vehicle title or financial file in an unsolicited first message. If more evidence is needed, ask for the official secure verification method.

A dealer-related request should name the dealer and the relevant interaction. That context is more useful than a vague instruction to delete everything held by every automotive company. If the response says the dealer controls the data, follow up with the dealer and retain both references. Do not impersonate a dealer employee to use a business workflow.

Check the outcome and reduce repeat exposure

Record what changed: a marketing preference, a deleted category, an access response or a decision to retain records. A receipt only confirms that a request was received. A substantive response should tell you what action was taken and any limits. Ask for clarification if the response describes a different right from the one you requested.

Future quote requests, another dealer visit or changed contact details may create a new interaction. Avoid treating an earlier opt-out as a permanent instruction to every future business you contact. When unwanted contact returns, compare its sender, purpose and identifier with the earlier request before deciding where to follow up.

Public broker listings require their own checks. A free privacy scan can help identify exposed contact information elsewhere, but it does not prove that FordDirect holds or has erased your record. Use the manual opt-out hub for provider-specific steps rather than submitting the same message to unrelated organizations.

For school, work or household contact information, think about the source as well as the broker copy. Changing an intentional public contact channel and requesting deletion from an automotive service solve different problems. Keep the scope narrow enough that the recipient can understand and answer it.

If several providers are involved, use the data broker opt-out directory to identify separate request routes. Keep the organization and outcome next to each confirmation so a response from one provider is not mistaken for completion across the whole list.

Frequently asked questions

Is FordDirect the same privacy target as my dealership?

The current notice separates those practices. Where FordDirect processes information for a dealer, the dealer may need to handle the request or instruct its service providers. Name the dealership when asking about that processing.

Why do some links open a Ford-Lincoln form?

The current FordDirect notice links Ford privacy infrastructure in its state-rights sections. We observed the Ford-Lincoln branding on the California-linked portal. Confirm the applicable scope through the current notice, especially if your concern is specifically FordDirect data.

Does Global Privacy Control delete a sales inquiry?

Do not assume that. Browser-based opt-out preferences and deletion requests have different purposes. Use the identity-based request route when you want the provider to review a matching personal record for deletion.

What if the form is blocked or unavailable?

Use the current notice’s telephone or privacy contact instructions and explain which linked portal was unavailable. We encountered a challenge on one state-specific route. That is an access limitation, not evidence that the provider rejected an actual request.

Will deletion remove maintenance or purchase records everywhere?

A FordDirect request does not establish that outcome. Dealership, manufacturer, financial and other records can have separate controllers and retention requirements. Ask the organization holding the relevant record about its process and any exception it applies.
