To opt out of Cox Automotive, open its official privacy notice and use the Privacy Request Form link, or call the notice's toll-free privacy number, 1-866-288-6872. Specify whether you want deletion, an opt-out of sale or sharing, or another available right. Browser cookie choices alone do not opt your offline information out.

A Cox Automotive opt out also cannot be assumed to erase records controlled independently by your dealership.

We checked the notice on October 30, 2026; it displayed an October 27, 2026 update date. The public form link did not expose a usable intake in our browser session. The instructions below therefore preserve the policy's phone alternative and avoid inventing form fields or a successful submission.

Check which company and records are covered

The Cox Automotive privacy notice describes consumer-facing affiliates including Autotrader, Kelley Blue Book and NewOrderAuto, plus subsidiaries that do not publish a separate notice.

It names websites including autotrader.com, kbb.com and floridaeladvantage.com.

That scope is narrower than every business with a Cox connection. Read the notice on the product you used. If it has its own notice or processes information for a dealership, that relationship can determine where the request should go.

This distinction prevents a common mistake: treating a technology supplier's response as a dealership-wide deletion certificate. Our data-broker explainer provides context for the different ways information can be collected and shared.

Prepare a narrowly scoped request

Write down the website or service you used, the approximate date and the identifiers associated with it. For example, a vehicle inquiry may have used an older email address, while a current account uses another. Explain that difference rather than presenting unrelated identities without context.

Cox's notice says verification may involve your relationship with the company, first and last name, email, phone and postal address. These are published verification examples, not a claim about mandatory fields in a form we successfully completed.

Keep your objective clear. Asking for deletion addresses information held by the company. Asking to opt out of sale or sharing concerns covered disclosure or processing. Requesting access can help establish what the company holds, but it is not the same action as stopping future sharing.

Do not include payment-card details, account passwords or a full vehicle-financing file merely to make a request sound more complete. If additional evidence is requested, confirm why it is needed and use the company's secure instructions.

Use the official request route

Public page checked October 30, 2026. No personal information or request submitted.

Open the notice and locate “Exercising Your Privacy Rights.” Use the Privacy Request Form link from that page. It invokes a website control, so a copied text version of the policy may not reproduce the intake.

If the form fails to appear, try the official page in a supported browser or use 1-866-288-6872, the alternative published in the notice. We did not call this number. Our browser inspection establishes the policy and link, not the outcome of a telephone request.

When making contact, identify the service and explain whether you are requesting deletion, opting out of sale/sharing, or both. Ask how to retain a reference number and receive the final response. A phone conversation without a written record can be difficult to follow up later.

The notice says a verifiable request does not require creating an account. If you are asked to sign up for an unrelated product or pay a third party merely to reach the rights process, return to the official notice and check the route.

Separate browser choices from offline data

Cox's notice recognizes browser preference signals such as Global Privacy Control on its United States-facing websites and offers cookie settings. Those controls are useful for the browser context in which they operate. Different browsers, devices or services may need separate settings.

The notice expressly instructs people to submit a request to opt out of sale or sharing of offline information. That matters if your concern is a name, address, phone number or earlier vehicle inquiry rather than the current browser's tracking cookies.

You may still receive advertising after making a choice. Seeing an advertisement is not, by itself, proof that an identity-based request failed. Conversely, seeing fewer ads does not prove a database record was deleted. Check the specific outcome you requested.

If your records involve another automotive business, consult the J.D. Power guide, FordDirect guide or DealerSocket guide. Each has a separate scope and request path.

What happens during verification and processing?

Cox says it may verify identity or authority and cannot provide information or act on a request where that verification fails. If you use an authorized agent, the notice describes signed permission or other evidence of authority and possible direct confirmation with you.

The checked notice says response periods generally range from 45 to 90 days depending on jurisdiction. Treat that as a published response framework, not a measured removal time. Your acknowledgment and any extension notice are the relevant records for tracking your own request.

Deletion can be partial. The notice describes retention for legal obligations and other permitted purposes. It also says request records may be maintained for compliance. Ask which categories remain and why instead of assuming a retained request log means the entire deletion failed.

If a request is denied, read the response for any applicable appeal route. The notice gives privacyopsteam@coxautoinc.com for appeals and asks that you use the same email address as the original request. Refer to the request number and the notice's “Request to Appeal” instructions.

Keep dealer records and new activity separate

A dealership may hold transaction, finance or service records independently. Ask the dealer about its own privacy process rather than assuming Cox's response covers every copy. Retention of legitimate transaction records also differs from continued advertising use.

Future shopping activity can create new information. If you submit another quote request, update a profile or use another service, note the new interaction in your log. Reappearance risk depends on those sources and identifiers; no permanent blanket removal was established by our inspection.

For public people-search exposure outside this workflow, start with a free privacy scan. It can help identify additional listings to investigate, but it does not certify the state of Cox's internal records. The opt-out hub connects you to other company-specific processes.

Your request checklist

  • Identify the product and whether its own notice applies.
  • State the desired deletion or sale/share outcome.
  • Use the official form or published privacy phone number.
  • Handle browser settings and offline records separately.
  • Keep the final response and any dealer-specific follow-up.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cox Automotive the same request as my cable account?

Use the notice belonging to the actual service and legal entity. This guide covers Cox Automotive's consumer notice. A similar corporate name is not enough to establish that another business's account is included.

Does the parent notice cover Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book?

The checked notice identifies those consumer-facing affiliates. Still identify the specific product in your request and check for a separate notice where applicable. This guide does not claim every group dataset is covered.

Why does the form link do nothing in a text reader?

The observed link invokes a JavaScript website control. A text-only copy may preserve the label without the interactive behavior. Use the official website or its published telephone alternative.

Does Global Privacy Control delete my vehicle inquiry?

The notice distinguishes browser signals from requests about offline information. Use an explicit deletion or sale/share request for the records you mean, and ask the company to confirm the scope.

Can I treat a confirmation email as deletion proof?

Only if it actually states the completed outcome and relevant scope. A receipt or verification message confirms a stage in the process. Preserve the final response and any stated exceptions separately.
