Norton vs Kanary Data Removal: Price, Workflow and Coverage
Compare Norton Privacy Monitor Assistant with Kanary Core and Advanced. Check current prices, removal cycles, coverage, permissions and renewal.

Norton Privacy Monitor Assistant is worth considering if you want a lower-priced, agent-assisted broker-removal service and can manage its roughly quarterly request cycle. Kanary is a stronger fit when you want ongoing managed monitoring or configurable support for broader personal exposure. Compare Norton’s full Assistant with Kanary Core or Advanced; Norton’s monitoring-only and Lite products have different workflows.
Prices and public product details were checked September 28, 2026. This comparison is based on official pages and browser inspection, not a paid-account removal test. Neither service can promise to erase every copy of your information.

The right choice depends on which records concern you and how much follow-up you expect the service to handle. A long advertised source count does not tell you whether your particular listing can be removed or independently verified.

What will you pay?
The Norton product page displayed $109.99 per year in our browser session. Another representation of that page returned different pricing, so treat this as a dated observed offer. Check your region, account, initial term and renewal price before purchasing.
Kanary's pricing page lists Core at $250 annually and Advanced at a $500 annual base price. Its current product brief also lists $25 monthly for Core and $50 monthly for Advanced. Twelve monthly payments would total $300 or $600 respectively before any extras or applicable taxes.
On those observed annual figures, Core costs $140.01 more than Norton and Advanced's base costs $390.01 more.
Those differences compare subscription prices, not equivalent scope or measured results. Advanced features marked as configurable can add costs, so obtain a quote for the setup you actually need.
Kanary advertises a 50% discount for added family members. Its annual page shows $125 for an added Core family member and $250 for an added Advanced family member. Confirm eligibility and configuration before budgeting for a household; this is not an unlimited-family price.
How does Norton’s removal cycle work?
Norton's current support guide says full Privacy Monitor Assistant lets you initiate a batch of opt-out requests about once every 90 days. Norton privacy experts send those requests to supported brokers on your behalf.
The product page describes ongoing rescans and resubmission, while the operational guide explains the user's request action. Plan to check the dashboard and available request controls each cycle. Do not assume the full Assistant behaves exactly like an unattended monthly service.
Norton says it emails you when all requests in a batch have been sent. That status proves dispatch, not that every broker has completed deletion. Its support guide notes that some sites require direct consumer action and that logins or paywalls can limit verification.
This model can suit somebody who already uses Norton and wants help with supported brokers without paying for broader incident-response features. It is less attractive if your main need is frequent handling of new, unusual exposures and you expect the base subscription to manage every case automatically.
Why do Assistant and Lite need separate comparisons?
Privacy Monitor helps surface exposure and provides a starting point for manual action. Full Privacy Monitor Assistant adds agent-assisted opt-out requests and Online Account Cleaner. Privacy Monitor Assistant Lite is a narrower automatic removal feature included in some plans.
Norton describes Lite as handling a smaller set of supported sites on a roughly quarterly recurring schedule. It does not include Online Account Cleaner or the full Assistant's handling of special cases. A bundle that says “data broker removal” therefore needs a closer look at the exact entitlement.
Before paying for an additional subscription, check your existing benefits and the product name in your account. The privacy bundle versus standalone removal guide explains how to compare that included feature with a separately purchased service.
When is Kanary worth considering?

Kanary Core provides managed scanning and removal from its highest-traffic sources, with monthly scans shown on the pricing page. Its 2026 product brief describes handling verification tasks and tracking progress. Core is currently presented as a US-resident offering.
Advanced is aimed at people with more targeted exposure concerns. The current pages describe broader source coverage, including social media and AI/LLMs, and more hands-on escalation. Some people outside the US can use Advanced, but the brief says not every country is supported.
Read the configuration footnotes carefully. Weekly or daily scanning, custom-removal work and some specialist assistance are among the options that can involve additional costs. The $500 base figure should not be used as a blanket quote for every advertised Advanced capability.
Kanary's strength is the wider range of exposure work and configurable support, particularly when routine broker listings are only part of the problem. The tradeoff is a higher price and the need to define the requested service. Ask for written confirmation of sources, cadence, escalation and extra charges before buying.
Which service covers more of your problem?
Norton's product page advertises more than 2,000 broker sites and databases. Kanary describes a changing source set and broader categories at Advanced. These descriptions are not a like-for-like audited count, and neither proves that a specific record can be removed.
Make a short list of actual concerns: a public address listing, a professional contact record, a social profile or a search result pointing to another site. Ask which items are monitored, which receive requests and which require your own action. Separate monitoring coverage from completed-removal evidence.
For a high-risk exposure, ask what happens when the publisher refuses or cannot remove it. Kanary's broader service description may be relevant, but it still cannot directly delete data from a website it does not control. Norton also identifies limitations on supported sites and verification.
If you are considering another specialist alongside Kanary, the Malwarebytes versus Kanary comparison covers a different price and monitoring decision. It should not be used to infer performance rankings between these products.
What personal data and permissions are involved?
Removal services need enough information to locate the right person and establish authority to submit requests. Review what each provider asks for during onboarding and whether a field is required, optional or relevant only to a particular feature.
Norton's product privacy notice says the Assistant workflow may involve inbox access to handle broker verification links. Online Account Cleaner separately uses an email connection to identify old accounts. Review those permissions before enabling the features rather than assuming a removal subscription requires no additional access.
Kanary's team deployment page describes basic onboarding information and managed or member-led enrollment. That description does not eliminate the possibility of further identity checks for specific requests. Ask about documents, retention and account deletion if those details affect your decision.
The public materials reviewed do not establish an all-EU storage guarantee for either plan. A company location or a security certification is not equivalent to a contractual residency commitment. Buyers who need a specific processing location should confirm it directly.
What about renewal and cancellation?
Norton's offer terms say subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before billing. Annual renewal payments may be taken up to 35 days before renewal. Its product-page terms describe a 14-day initial monthly-purchase refund period and a 60-day annual-payment refund period, subject to the linked policy.
Kanary's current brief describes renewal notifications and a 30-day money-back policy. Read the checkout terms for the selected plan and configuration, particularly for team purchases or added services. Neither a refund policy nor a cancellation request promises removal of data from external sites.
Save the purchase confirmation and schedule a reminder before the provider's actual billing date. Cancelling renewal, ending service immediately and deleting your provider account are separate requests; check which action you are taking.
How should you choose?
- Choose Norton for supported-broker assistance at the observed lower annual price if its quarterly request workflow fits your needs.
- Choose Kanary Core when managed monthly coverage of its core sources fits your US-based exposure concerns.
- Consider Kanary Advanced when broader source types and escalation matter, after confirming the configuration and total cost.
- Check household eligibility, country support, renewal terms and required permissions before entering payment details.
If you are evaluating CrabClear alongside these options, review CrabClear's current pricing and compare the actual scope you need. Keep the same standard for every provider: supported sources, meaningful progress evidence, recurring cost and the steps that remain yours to complete.
Frequently asked questions
Is Norton always cheaper?
The annual Norton offer observed on September 28 was below Kanary's listed annual base prices. Offers, existing benefits and renewal terms can differ, so compare your actual checkout and renewal figures.
Does Kanary Advanced include every option for $500?
No. Its pricing page marks configurations that may add cost. Confirm the specific cadence, custom requests and specialist support included in the quoted plan.
Does a Norton dispatch email prove deletion?
No. Norton describes that email as confirmation that a batch was sent. Broker processing and verification are separate stages.
Can an existing Norton bundle replace a separate service?
It depends on the exact entitlement and your needs. Identify monitoring, full Assistant or Lite, then compare its sources and workflow with the service you are considering.
Did CrabClear test either service's removal performance?
No. This comparison uses current public documentation and browser evidence. We did not purchase accounts, submit removal requests or measure customer outcomes for this article.
