YouMail Opt Out: Privacy Requests and Account Deletion
Use the YouMail opt-out form, choose the right privacy request, and separate account deletion from call forwarding and public directory disputes.

To opt out of YouMail, use its official Personal Data Request form and choose Opt Out, Info Request, or Data Deletion. These choices have different effects: a sale opt-out is not account deletion, and deleting an account is not a verified promise to erase every directory report. Existing users should also follow YouMail's call-forwarding deactivation instructions before closing the account.
The public form, privacy notice and account-closure help were checked on October 16, 2026. No personal details were submitted. If your concern extends beyond YouMail, the phone-number removal guide helps separate public listings from unwanted calls.
Choose the request that matches your problem
YouMail operates voicemail, call-protection and directory services. Its privacy notice describes both account information and user-submitted spam reports, which can include call details, audio and comments. A request should identify which of those you want addressed. A vague instruction to remove a number can leave the intended outcome unclear.
The California privacy-rights page directs readers to the request form or a telephone support route. It is labeled as updated April 1, 2021, although the linked form remains available. Treat the page as YouMail's published instructions, rather than a complete explanation of every current privacy law.
| Your goal | Starting route | What to keep separate |
|---|---|---|
| Stop sale of personal information | Opt Out on the privacy form | Account closure and directory complaints |
| Obtain information held about you | Info Request | A copy request does not itself request deletion |
| Delete personal data and account | Data Deletion | Voicemail, forwarding and subscription consequences |
| Challenge a public directory entry | Describe the exact entry to support | Removing a spam label is not the same as deleting data |
| Stop marketing messages | Unsubscribe or contact support | Necessary service messages may continue |
YouMail also markets paid directory-management and privacy products. Those are not prerequisites stated on the public privacy form. Do not buy a listing-management subscription simply because you are trying to exercise a privacy choice. Ask support to distinguish correction, suppression and paid business features if the route is unclear.
How to complete the YouMail privacy form

Open the official Personal Data Request form. The observed page contains three request-type choices and fields for first name, last name, phone number and email address. Its introductory text asks for the details associated with the YouMail account. Use accurate matching details rather than a different phone number that happens to be easier to access.
- Decide whether you want a sale opt-out, information access or deletion before selecting a request type.
- Enter the first and last name associated with the relevant account or request.
- Enter the phone number and email that YouMail can use to identify the record.
- Review the deletion wording carefully if you want to keep voicemail or other account features.
- Submit only your own authorized request, then retain the acknowledgment and any reference number.
- Watch the supplied email address for verification instructions, including the spam folder.
These are the controls visible before submission. We did not test the next screen, email sequence or completion time. The rights page says requests must be verifiable and that non-users may also request information or action after supplying identifying details. It lists 800-374-0013 as a telephone alternative for speaking with support.
If you are not a California resident, do not invent residency to use a state-specific process. Contact YouMail through the route in its privacy notice and explain the actual request and location. The company can identify the applicable process. A provider's verification requirement is not a reason to send unrelated identity documents with your first message.
Account deletion needs a forwarding check
The current closure instructions distinguish deactivation from closing or completely deleting the account. On the website, the help directs users through Settings and Security to Close Account. Follow the displayed deactivation steps if calls are still forwarded to YouMail.
The iPhone instructions use the menu or gear icon, Data & Privacy, and Request Account Deletion. The Android instructions use Settings, More, Data and Privacy, then Delete Account. Interface labels can change, so keep the current help page open while you work. Do not substitute a random carrier code from an unrelated tutorial.
YouMail describes an option to close an account while retaining voicemail and another to completely delete it. If you keep voicemail, the help explicitly says the account is not completely deleted. Save anything you need before choosing complete deletion, and check the billing channel separately so account closure is not confused with a confirmed subscription cancellation.
This distinction also matters when leaving other caller-ID tools. The Truecaller removal guide describes a different deactivation-and-unlisting process. Completing that process would not replace a YouMail request, and uninstalling either app is not evidence that every related record has disappeared.
Verify what changed and follow up precisely
For an account request, look for a written response that identifies the action completed. For a public listing, revisit the exact YouMail directory URL you reported. For a marketing opt-out, retain the unsubscribe confirmation. Keep these checks separate because success in one area does not establish success in another.
The privacy notice allows retention for legal, accounting, auditing and operational purposes. It also explains that spam-report information may be published or shared for call-blocking purposes. We did not verify a universal directory-suppression promise or a fixed processing deadline for every request. Ask support what remains and why if the response only confirms account closure.
If a form produces an error, record the date and error text without placing your number in a public complaint. Contact support through the privacy notice, which provides support@youmail.com. Include a previous reference if one exists; repeated new submissions can make it harder to follow the same request.
If your real issue is a false spam label, explain that explicitly. Include the directory URL and the particular label or comment you dispute. Do not imply that a privacy request automatically entitles every caller to removal from an abuse-prevention system. A correction request should describe the factual problem and the outcome you seek.
Reappearance and other phone directories
A changed YouMail result does not remove entries held by independent directories, contacts saved on someone else's phone or copies already obtained elsewhere. Later reports or a new account can also create a new issue to investigate. Keep the original confirmation so you can distinguish a fresh record from a request that never completed.
If you find another listing, use the relevant provider's process. The Hiya guide explains its separate support and data-deletion routes. Our opt-out guide hub helps locate other provider-specific instructions without assuming that all caller-ID services share a database.
For wider exposure, removing yourself from data brokers is a separate project from disabling voicemail. A free data broker scan can help identify supported exposure to investigate. It does not verify completion of a YouMail request or demonstrate that every spam call has a data-broker source.
Frequently asked questions
Can I request privacy action without a YouMail account?
YouMail's California rights page says non-users can make a request, although the company describes holding limited information about them for business purposes. It says verification includes name, phone number and email. Explain that you are a non-user rather than creating an unnecessary account.
Does the Opt Out choice delete my voicemail?
The form separates Opt Out from Data Deletion. The deletion option expressly concerns personal data and the account. Read the final confirmation before proceeding, and export wanted messages before complete account deletion. Do not treat the two radio options as interchangeable.
Will deleting the app stop call forwarding?
YouMail's closure help says to complete deactivation when missed calls are still being forwarded. Follow the carrier-specific instructions shown by the official process. Afterward, verify that calls and voicemail reach the destination you intended rather than assuming an uninstall changed carrier settings.
Does removal guarantee no more spam calls?
No. A privacy request addresses a defined set of information or account functions. Callers may already have your number, and public reports or other directories are separate. Check the specific result you requested instead of using daily call volume as proof that deletion succeeded or failed.
